Presidential and First Lady History

One of my goals in life is to visit every presidential and first lady historical site in America. Join me on this quest! These sites are usually great for kids and can inspire your child to dream big!

See this checklist (continually updated) for all of the presidential sites in America – and a few in Canada and Europe! I have also included the first lady sites that are separate from the presidential sites. You can also visit many of these sites virtually. How many places have you visited?

A great way to enhance your visit would be to listen to the “Presidential” podcast by The Washington Post before your visit. The podcasts are quite interesting and appropriate for older elementary-aged children and teens (with the exception of James Buchanan and Bill Clinton). I also recommend many books about the presidents and first ladies. Check out my Presidential and First Lady book lists on Bookshop.org, an Amazon alternative that supports independent bookstores (affiliate link).

Be sure to follow along with me on my Booking It Through History: First Ladies project. Beginning in January of 2023, I am reading two books per month about each first lady, beginning with Martha Washington. Follow along here on the blog and at #BookingItThroughHistory.
