Over the past year, the museum has undergone an expansive renovation and now has new and updated exhibits. Its official reopening occurred this past weekend, so I thought this would be a good time to update my review. Her new book, Bloomsbury Girls, publishes today and is just as lovely! Set in a cozy, musty bookshop in 1950 London, this novel is a delightful yet poignant look at the lives of the workers in the bookshop - from the women yearning for more to the men who feel their power slipping away to an Indian immigrant who finds himself on the outside looking in. Want to take your family to the longest-occupied castle in Europe? Windsor Castle has 1000 years of history, dating from William the Conqueror’s reign in the 11th century. The castle tour is very family-friendly, and your child will never forget seeing the ornate state rooms and hearing the bagpipes at the changing of the guard. Travel agents are saying this is the busiest summer they’ve seen in a long time! Flights are getting canceled already, hotels are fully booked, it’s getting a little crazy! Are you part of an IRL book club? I’ve been in the same one for over ten years now (!!!!!) and really enjoy looking back on some of the excellent books we’ve read. Of course, I always enjoy our historical fiction selections the best. We love going to air and space museums on our travels. It’s a fun way for kids to learn about history, and the museums usually have a lot of hands-on activities. One of the best we’ve visited is the Delta Flight Museum near the Atlanta airport. My kids spent hours exploring the exhibits and planes, including a double-decker 747!
