Favorite Books – Fourth Quarter, 2024

Before I can decide on my top books of 2024, I have to pick my favorites from the last three months of the year. I read 39 books from October – December, but many of these seasonal novels were not 4.5 or 5 star reads. But of course, I did have some favorites!

Favorite Historical Fiction

The Lies We Leave Behind by Noelle Salazar

This gripping WWII novel takes the reader from the dangerous missions in the South Pacific to an air force base in England to behind enemy lines in Germany. It’s thrilling! Read my review here.

Secrets of the Watch House by Jenny Ashcroft

This is a historical mystery set on a windswept island off the coast of Cornwall. With a mysterious death, a haunted mansion, and a protagonist who doesn’t know who to trust, it was a page-turning novel! Read my review here.

Christmas with the Queen by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb

While set at Christmastime, this book would be lovely to read year-round. It’s part romance/part mystery and takes you inside the palace walls to learn more about the British Royals. I loved it! Read my review here.

Contemporary Fiction

Is She Really Going Out With Him? by Sophie Cousens

If I could hug this book, I would! It was my favorite romance of the year and is such a sweet and endearing story. Would you let your children pick out your dates? The main character here does and it leads to hilarious situations! Read my review here.

Classics

Every October, I read books by L.M. Montgomery. My favorites this year were her romantic short story, Kilmeny of the Orchard, and her memoir, The Alpine Path. So inspiring! Read my review here.
