In my reflections on my 2025 reading, I put together a challenge to help me keep on track with the goals I have for my reading.

I am not trying to be perfect with the challenge and just see it as a way to ensure I am focused on what I want to read! Each month, I will do a recap on the blog.
Here’s how I did in April. To read reviews of all of these books, check out my Goodreads!

My most anticipated book of the year is written by two of my favorite authors, Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie. And it tells the story of Abigail Adams’ lonely and challenging years as the wife of an American patriot who put duty to country above all else. It will be my favorite book of the year!

I enjoyed learning more about Nancy Reagan this month, especially her true romance with President Reagan. He is a favorite president of mine, so I loved this glimpse into his life. Be sure to read my Booking It Through History: First Ladies post about her.

A thrilling tale of American strength in the midst of the Cold War, this narrative nonfiction read by the journalist writer was nail-biting. I learned so much!

I loved this WWII novel that featured a young German female pilot and her family intertwining with a young American Jewish soldier’s fate. I learned so much and was captivated by the touching story.

I reread this book that was a favorite from 2025 in preparation for my tour of Salzburg next month! I cannot wait to walk in the footsteps of the real Maria as well as the movie locations. I am ready to sing my heart out!

I really enjoyed this time slip book about mothers and daughters who can change one decision in their lives with a special golden ticket. It really made me think about my own life and what I would want to change (if anything!). The mistake that caused the protagonist’s use of the ticket made me cringe, and I didn’t like that aspect. But the overall story is interesting and propulsive.

I have been through this book multiple times (10+) and learn something new each time. Her writing is beautiful and speaks to me. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a new devotional.
I am reading The Bible Is For You slowly along with The Bible Recap (see below).

We are a third of the way through the Bible! I have mostly been using the Dwell Bible app and love how it includes the Bible Recap podcast with the daily reading.

I finally finished Gone With the Wind and enjoyed it almost as much as I did as a teenager. However, I was annoyed by Scarlett’s antics much more as an adult, and I identified more with Scarlett’s mother than anyone else. And I still hate Ashley – even more than his wimpy role in the movie!
And I can’t wait to see the movie on the big screen at Regal theateres in October!
Do you have any reading goals for 2026? I’d love to hear about them!
