Reading Challenge Update – May 2026

In my reflections on my 2025 reading, I put together a challenge to help me keep on track with the goals I have for my reading.

I am not trying to be perfect with the challenge and just see it as a way to ensure I am focused on what I want to read! Each month, I will do a recap on the blog.

Here’s how I did in May. To read reviews of all of these books, check out my Goodreads!

This was a tense read as it delved into the 1938 conference between Hitler and Britain’s Neville Chamberlain. The imposing buildings from the book are still visible in Munich, now repurposed for innocuous things like a museum.

The best first lady memoir that I’ve read, this book is like sitting with Barbara over a cup of coffee. The biography about her tells a little more of her story, using others’ comments. Don’t forget to read my post about her.

The Mary Lincoln book is a well-deserved rewrite of history for this much-maligned woman.

Annabel is my go-to for romances with meaning, and her latest is one of her best! I fell in love with Dolly and Stewart and smiled the whole time I was reading this delightful novel!

An inspiring read about several people and events of the American Revolution that are not as well known. Of course, my favorites were about John and Abigail Adams!

This book sat on my shelves for four years until I picked it up in anticipation of meeting Deanna at Cindy’s (from Thoughts from a Page) literary salon. I am glad I read this snappy mystery about four older women assassins fighting off would-be killers. It’s not as madcap as expected and had a more serious message.

I bought this book years ago, and when I knew I was meeting Deanna, I wanted to read it. Knowing there are ten books in the series is daunting! I am still not quite finished and will see if I can continue in reading the series.

Bless Your Heart

I laughed out loud several times at this funny book that explains “Southernisms” in such a delightful way. Many of the sayings and things described are straight from my own childhood in North Carolina. It’s a lovely way to reminisce!

I am reading The Bible Is For You slowly along with The Bible Recap (see below).

Almost halfway through the Bible! I got a little behind with my travels but am all caught up. It’s amazing to see the connecting threads God wove throughout Scripture.

The categories I didn’t get to this month were:

Do you have any reading goals for 2026? I’d love to hear about them!

Success! You're on the list.
