I am not trying to be perfect with the challenge and just see it as a way to ensure I am focused on what I want to read! Each month, I will do a recap on the blog.

These books about women pioneers in Colorado were both stellar. The hardships that these women went through to make a better life for their families is unreal. I especially think The Diary of Mattie Spenser is a must-read! They both enhanced my understanding of Colorado’s history, which was perfect for my trip last month.
Julia Gardiner Tyler is a fascinating woman who came into her role as first lady by marrying the current president! Her later years as a supporter of her adopted state during the Civil War tarnished her reputation, and this book details how she redeemed herself with the help of another first lady, Julia Grant.
This book details battles from New Jersey to Charleston, following the footsteps of the author’s ancestors. It was special!
This was an emotional book about the female correspondents and photographers who were the first newspeople on the scene of D-Day. I had no idea about that history! Just when you think there is not an untold WWII story, you find one!
I don’t know how I feel about this book. I enjoyed the intricacies of the complicated time travel, but I didn’t like the darkness. And the main relationship’s age difference had moments of ick that made it difficult to read.
I love Eliza’s historical fiction, and this one was especially poignant with its focus on three generations of women. Plus I loved the music details! The late 60s/early 70s is not my favorite time period, but this book was a winner!
Focused on a young woman who is finding new friends in Bath, this novel is witty and funny. And the misunderstandings are quaint. It’s not my favorite Jane Austen book, but it is sweet.
This was a fun romp! An American woman who has just been dumped heads to England to work in Buckingham Palace. I loved all of the behind-the-scenes information from the palace and the interactions with the British Royals.
I am still reading this memoir about a woman finding faith while studying at Oxford. It is deep and impactful. Excited to see the movie made about it as well!

We are almost done with the Old Testament! I am about a week behind but hope to catch up in time to start the New Testament on October 1st. Join me!

I think this year has proved that audiobooks are just not for me. I find it difficult to make the time to listen! I think I am going to try to hit both of these categories by starting the audiobook of Outlander as I want to do a reread before my trip next year!
